Spring 2: week 5

This week we learnt about how we grow up. We enjoyed looked at numerous baby photos and pictures of how we've grown so far.

In literacy we wrote about how we have changed and what we want to be when we grow up.

In maths we explored money, looking at the size, shape, colour and value of coins. We enjoyed role playing buying and selling items in shops and several money games.

In PE we used the large apparatus in the hall and applied some of our gymnastics movements on the equipment.

During Expressive Arts and Design we started making some Easter crafts and we learnt a hymn for Mass.

In RE we listened to the Easter story, made an Easter garden and designed our own Lenten eggs describing how we are growing to be like Jesus.

On Friday we had a fun filled day. In the morning we took our Lenten boxes to the library and placed our money on large letters for Lent. In the afternoon we visited all of the fundraising stalls and bought several confectionaries, toys and experiences whilst also applying our knowledge of money.

Next week we will be looking further at the Easter story and retelling this in literacy. In maths we will continue to look at money. On Holy Thursday we will attend Mass in the morning and enjoy the Easter egg raffle.

Spring 2: week 3

This week we enjoyed continuing our topic of 'Changes'. We began our RE topic of 'Growing' by going on a spring walk looking for early signs of spring:

On Wednesday morning the children were excited to present their assembly. They delivered this with enthusiasm and confidence and they should all be very proud of what they achieved.

Here are some other things we got up to this week:

Spring 2: week 2

The children enjoyed this weeks theme of 'changes in cooking'. We also celebrated Fairtrade Fortnight, so we decided to make some fairtrade banana and chocolate cupcakes. They all looked and smelt delicious:

On Thursday we had some amazing World Book Day character costumes. As a class we created a book cover for our class door in the style of The Gruffalo.

We continue to observe our broad beans and we were very pleased to discover that some have germinated.

We have also been practising for our assembly, which we hope you will all enjoy watching next Wednesday morning.

Thank you for attending parents evening on Tuesday and Thursday. It was great to  update you on your child's progress. If you have any further questions, as always, I am generally available at the end of the day.

Have a great weekend
