Summer 1: week 1

A warm welcome back to reception. From listening to the children and reading their writing it sounds like everyone had a great and well deserved Easter break.

This week we started our new topic 'Minibeasts' The children are thoroughly enjoying this so far:

In Literacy we wrote posters depicting how to take care of minibeasts:
In Understanding the World we made our own Minibeast posters using the net books.

In maths we revisited 2D and 3D shapes, the children's use of vocabulary and shape recognition has been very impressive.

In RE we have continued to celebrate the season of Easter and the good news of Jesus' resurrection. We created our own pieces of good news, which we will display on our RE board.

In PE we began our unit on parachute games, we learnt how to grip the parachute correctly and how to change the rhythm.

This afternoon we took part in the School Council fun run, it certainly was lots of fun and everyone enjoyed taking part:

Here are some other things we have got up to:

Next week we will look at Minibeasts that slither. In maths we will concentrate on addition and subtraction. In Literacy we will create pieces of writing in relation to Julia Donaldson minibeast stories.

Have a lovely weekend

Spring 2: week 6

We have had a lovely last week to finish off this Spring term.

We listened to the Easter story and retold this applying our knowledge of 'successful sentences'. The results were fantastic and the children should be very proud of their writing progress.

In Maths we continued to look at money, including the colour, shape, size and value of coins.

In PE we continued to use the large apparatus. We practised jumping safely and created shapes with our bodies.

In EAD we made our own Easter baskets and Easter rabbits. We hope you enjoy using these at home.

On Wednesday morning we enjoyed sharing healthy snack boxes that the Year 3 children made for us:

On Wednesday afternoon we also enjoyed our very own Easter egg hunt!

To finish the term, the children attended Mass and the Easter egg raffle.

We hope you all have a well deserved rest and we look forward to seeing you next term!
